"I am an Icelandic painter / writer. I was fortunate to be able to merge together my art and my research of the imagery of Icelandic myth. It seems the allegory of Icelandic skinbooks holds the symbols of a prehistoric Image of Creation ancient man paced on virgin land, making an initial blueprint up on which cultural areas were later built"

"I propose such an Image of Creation underlies most cultivated areas of the world and initiated most of the famous Stoneage constructions in Europe. Thus the location of; Jelling, Denmark, St.Denis, France, the Vatican, Rome and Glastonbury, Avebury and Stonehenge in Somerset are rooted on a “grid”, suggesting their location is according to a measured plan that predates them."

Thank you Petur for taking the time to answer some questions for us!  Please tell us about your latest book.

I am finishing my second book which has the working title: The London Universe. It is amazing to see how the Cosmic Image was taylored onto the landscape around London and ancored to markers whom we look upon now as the old cities historical edifices.

Have you received any awards for your work?

Yes I have for my visual art.

Do you also do speaking engagements, or seminars?

Yes.

How has your education, profession or background helped you in your writing career? Or conversely, how has your writing success helped you in your profession?

My working method is a research based on classical history of the motive at hand –but first and foremost its portions. I propose the best way to understand the visual aspect of ancient Cosmic Images, is to study the shape of it. From the very first, Man has sought to subject his surroundings to measurements, to bring it within his mind’s grasp in a sense not unlike that when a landscape painter attempts to recreate his vision on paper.  Man’s first units of measurement were based on the proportions of the human body, which offered a comfortable resolution for a nomad who wished to understand what he saw.

What kind of other works (books, scripts, poems etc.) have you had published?

Mostly newspaper articles.

Is there any aspect to your profession that gets you in touch with your readers
directly?

Yes my talks, seminars, art shows and my excursions with them through the
Cosmic Image in the South of Iceland.

What will your next project be?

I have already started researching the myths of the Po valey in Northern Italy,
there seems to be an ancient Cosmic image on the flatland there, it appeares
Venice was no ordinary sea-city.

Who inspires you on a personal or business level?

Mythic savants, Einar Pálsson, best known for his theories about the origin of
the Icelandic Saga literature as relict mythology of pagan ritual landscapes,
Ernest McClain Professor Emeritus of Music and My wife and my daughter.

What type of work is the most rewarding or satisfying for you?

To understand my universe through the portions of its Cosmic Image - and my artwork saatchi-gallery.co.uk

What can you recommend for writers who are just getting started and are trying
to make a name for themselves?

I write non-fiction. Symbols and imagery fall in my lap if I follow my heart and travel the territory. Truth can only be found if you follow your path.

How did you get started as a writer?

I had a story. (Petur's book on amazon.com)

Which is your favorite book/work published? Is there a favorite?

Sjalfstaett folk / Indipendent People by Halldor Laxness. And Einar Palsson´s books; The Roots of Icelandic Culture.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

Sunny -gray, calm -windy, –empty pallet.

Who is your favorite writer/author?

The scribes who wrote what is called the Icelandic Saga heritage.

Finally, a most important question: what was the last song you sang out loud
when you were by yourself? :)

Hvitir mávar (White Seagulls), an Icelandic lovesong, like Helena Eyjolfs
performed it.

Thank you Petur! We wish you great success with your second book!
