Non-fiction Ebooks Save Radio Guests Time and Trouble
Submitted by: Francine Silverman
No sooner did Peter Bowerman purchase my business ebook than he was invited as a guest on two radio shows. As a busy author, business coach and copy writer, he has no time to search for radio shows that match his specialties. That’s why he jumped at the chance to purchase the business ebook. “I started contacting radio show hosts from your ‘Business’ list a few weeks back,” he reports. “I've already been on 2, have 2-3 more scheduled and several more interested... Pretty terrific payback on a $15 investment! And I'm not done yet!”
As an on-line publicist for about 179 authors, I’ve been successful in getting most of them multiple radio spots. Radio hosts need guests and most are happy with my clients. Yet all I have to go on are my clients’ bios. There are advantages to contacting a host yourself since you know what you’re all about. Either way, you can rest assured that hosts who complete the questionnaire want to be contacted.
Of course, with the dearth of information on radio websites – especially regarding show theme and guest criteria – it’s anyone’s guess what kind of guests hosts want. For this reason, I decided to write my book, Talk Radio Wants You: An Intimate Guide to 700 Shows and How to Get Invited (McFarland & Co. 2009), which retails for $75 and contains everything a potential guest needs to know before contacting a host.
To make the information more affordable, I have followed the format of the book to create ebooks in business, health, self-help, New Age, sports, entertainment, politics and more, selling for $12 to 20. A sample of the ebook, Directory of Business Talk Radio Shows, is at http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/6138
The shows in the ebook were discovered after my book went into production, include both Internet and on-air programs, and feature show theme, name of host, guest criteria, email, phone (optional), website, best method of contact, and where aired.
Generally, non-fiction ebooks contain information for disparate groups, i.e., how to fly a plane for wannabe pilots, how to gain confidence for self-help addicts, baking for beginners for new cooks. Perhaps you’d like to promote your radio show, book, business, clients or expertise on the radio but know that researching radio shows is a hassle and that traditional radio directories are mere listings. Ebooks are the answer. Ebooks are factual, up-to-date, easy to download and inexpensive.
