When one loves an alcoholic or addict, focus tends to land on the alcoholic or addict, not those who love them.  We become addicted to our addicts and lose focus and become distracted from everything else. Our day to day activities become dependent on what our sick loved ones are doing that day and how we will react to these activities.

My experience as a mom of an addict has taught me many things.  The main thing I have learned after years of experience and research, is that we can make good choices despite the bad choices of our addicted loved ones by using a simple plan.  The plan is not easy, but simple.

There are millions of people who live daily surrounded by the chaos of addiction. It affects their relationship with their families, their friends, their coworkers, and the general public.  Many times we become consumed by the fears, anxieties, and sadness that addiction thrusts upon the family and begin to live a life of solitude and secrecy.

"SWEAT: A Practical Plan for Keeping Your Heart Intact While Loving an Addict" offers a simple plan to follow, with tools to choose to help get your life back and become, again, a productive member of society, with serenity and focus back in your life, regardless of the choices of your loved ones.

After traveling around the world during a career in International Business, the author settled down to raise her two sons in South Florida. It was during this time that her "chaos" began. Out of necessity, she developed this "practical plan" and now works with individuals and groups sharing her experience and hope. She maintains a website and blog to support this plan.
