Edgar Cayce's Atlantic University for Intuitive Artists
Submitted by: Nancy L. Young-Houser
The Edgar Cayce Atlantic University is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, a university that specializes in a Master Degree in Transformative Theories and Practices, synthesizing in complementary disciplines - psychology, philosophy, religious studies, health sciences and the arts. With an open enrollment, it can start anytime with no residency requirements.
Carl Jung and Abraham Maslow coined the term "transpersonal", the first to propose its use with two religious traditions of the East and West. Seeking to blend critical and contemplative thinking, the ultimate goal will be to investigate our self and our world from several assumptions that are involved in the class courses. Each pathway we are on consists of individual courses. The pathways are: Spirituality, Consciousness, Creativity, General Studies, Leadership and Conflict Transformation, and Transformative Visual Arts.
When first applying for admission, a BA or BS degree from another accredited school is required. There will be a non-refundable fee of $50. Once accepted, there will be a $750 fee per three-credit course. Additionally, there is a required one-credit research course with a $250 tuition. The Atlantic University allows home learning with a personal schedule from an accredited graduate-level institute of higher education. The university is a member of the DETC, the Distance Education and Training Council.
The courses can be taken for credit, master-level's instruction, or as a continuing education course, or as a certificate to personal growth and enrichment. The Master's Degree is approved by the Virginia State Council of Higher Education, and is fully accredited and authorized by the U.S. Department of Education.
An advantage of the Edgar Cayce's Atlantic University over other universities is that transpersonal studies believe in the existence of another dimension, greater than the individual. Once connected, our self grows through creativity, health and human performance. Each course focuses on humanity, universal nature, nature of reality, and holistic living. Each student will test and apply these concepts to integrate the body, mind and spirit. This will be done though developing ideas form research and academic sources.
