Thank you Aila for taking the time to answer some questions for us!  To start, please tell us about the latest project you've worked on.

My most recent project is the publication of my best-selling book 34 Instant Stress-Busters, Quick tips to de-stress fast with no extra time or money. The focus of my life to date is to uncover the truth of life and my purpose in it.  In that LifeQuest (also the name of my business), I engaged in countless transformational processes.  On my sixtieth birthday, I realized that the lessons and wisdom garnered from those experiences would go to my grave with me.  Those thoughts lead me to start writing more prolifically.  This is the first of several books in which I plan to share what I have learned with others.

Have you received any awards for your work?

I am the recipient of the Business Woman of the Year Award from Business and Professional Women/ West Virginia, Distinguished Toastmaster from Toastmaster’s International and my biography appears in Who’s Who in American Nursing and Who's Who of Women Executives.

Do you also do speaking engagements, or seminars?

Yes!  This is my passion.  I have been engaged in doing presentations and teaching for over 40 years.

How has your education, profession or background helped you in your writing career? Or conversely, how has you writing success helped you in your profession?

I started writing early in my nursing career out of a passion for communicating my findings and ideas with peers.  I was fortunate to have many articles, book chapters and research published throughout my career.

For me, writing goes hand in hand with thinking innovatively and trying to communicate those thoughts to another person.  Because I’m a big picture thinker, I find my thoughts become more grounded, organized and clear through writing.

What kind of other works (books, scripts, poems etc.) have you had published?

Many articles in professional journals including my masters thesis, “The Lived Experience of Recovering from Addiction: A phenomenological study” and “Grounded Research Study on Factors of Family Strength” and several book chapters in other’s books on aspects of business, entrepreneurship and nursing ethics.  My second book, which will be out in August/September is part of the best selling Wake Up… Live the Life You Love series from Little Seed Press called “Living in the NOW.”  I am a co-author with Dr. Wayne Dyer, Brian Tracy, Michael Beckwith and others.

I also have other products including guided-meditations, teleseminar programs and other programs, which are downloadable publications with audio components.  These include

“Breaking the Perfection Myth™, a model for self-esteem and personal freedom”, “Weight No More TeleCoaching Program™” a model for permanent weight release and “Climbing Out of the Well: Finding Your Soul™”, a model for addiction, depression and spiritual recovery.

Is there any aspect to your profession that gets you in touch with your readers directly?

I love meeting and talking with people!  I pursue this continuously through my presentations, women’s retreats, classes and now through social media.

What will your next project be?

Once the initial launch is complete for the products listed already, I will go into a quiet inner space, meditate and ask for guidance on what project comes next.  I have five books outlined on my computer.  The next project could be one of those.

Who inspires you on a personal or business level?

My clients!  It is in the transformational relationship with them that I feel closest to my purpose and passion.

What type of work is the most rewarding or satisfying for you?

I love personally engaging with people in transformation through presentations, retreats and coaching.

I am dabbling in blogging, which could be another way to genuinely engage with like-minded others.

What can you recommend for writers who are just getting started and are trying to make a name for themselves?

I don’t think I have made a name for myself, yet, so am not in a position to advise others on that point.

The most important wisdom I have to share with everyone is this -- Attract the perfect coach for you and invest whatever time and resources you can in releasing the old conditioned barriers that are tying up your creative and productive energy.  Once you do that… the manifestation of your passion and creation becomes apparent and inevitable.   Nothing can stop you when you know your true “Why”.

How did you get started as a writer?

I wrote poetry & journals and then, submitted an article to a professional journal.  I did not aspire to be a writer and did not take classes in writing.  I just have a message and discovered writing as another way to communicate it.

Which is your favorite book/work published? Is there a favorite?

I only have one published book.  So far, it is my favorite.  ; )

What does a typical work day look like for you?

There is nothing typical from one day to another with the exception of dedicating the day to my highest purpose and taking my supplements first thing in the morning.  My schedule from that point on is totally flexible.  I may have a presentation scheduled, check in on my social media sites, meditate or….

I shape each day by asking myself what one thing I want to accomplish today and set the intention to complete that by the end of the day.  I also set an intention to get my 40 minutes of exercise in each day.

During the day I ask “What is the best use of my time right now?” and intuit the answer.  This keeps me focused on what is important and present in the moment.

Have you ever had a mentor, or someone who sparked your passion for writing?

I have had many wonderful coaches and mentors.  Each one brought me exactly what I needed to progress in my life experience.  In terms of writing, my strongest mentor was my thesis chair, Dr, Mary Jane Smith from West Virginia University.  I chose her because I knew she would inspire excellence in me and she did!

Not only did she help me create an exceptional research product, she also advocated for me with her contacts to get it published and accepted for presentation at prestigious research conferences.

Who is your favorite writer/author?

After Gibran and Rumi, Fritjof Capra influenced me the most.  He is able to take complex concepts of physics and translate them into understandable and inspiring text people can understand.

Finally, a most important question: what was the last song you sang out loud when you were by yourself?

When gratitude overcomes me… which is daily anymore, this song “Almost Like Being in Love” immediately pops into my mind and out of my mouth.

Thank you Aila! Congratulations on the success of your first book 34 Instant Stress-Busters, Quick tips to de-stress fast with no extra time or money!
